The Audi Coupé, which was based on the technology of the series B3 Audi 80/90, was presented in September 1988. The new model went into production in December 1988, initially only with 5-cylinder models. In the years that followed, the engine range was expanded by 4- and 6-cylinder engines plus a powerful 20-valve turbocharged unit.
In December 1995, production of the Audi Coupé ended after a seven-year production period in which almost 70,000 vehicles were built.
