The ‘Heidelberg Historic’, an annual event, was held from July 12 to 14 this year in the region between Germany’s Rhein and Neckar rivers. Audi Tradition once again acted as sponsor and also entered a number of historic cars. One of the stages of this traditional classic car rally ended at the Audi Forum in Neckarsulm.
Held this year for the eighteenth time, the rally traditionally starts and finishes in Sinsheim. This year the route crossed the Rhein for the first time and visited the town of Speyer, with its famous cathedral, and its Technical Museum. The Heidelberg Historic rally, itself a ‘mobile museum’, required entrants to tackle a route some 650 kilometres long, with 16 regularity stages.

The second stage of the rally brought the entrants to the Audi Forum in Neckarsulm. Some 200 pre-war and post-war cars lined up on the Audi Piazza. Among those entered by Audi Tradition were an Auto Union 1000 Sp Roadster, an NSU/Wankel Spider, an NSU Ro 80, an Audi 72 and an Audi Super 90.
Event day with technical close-ups
The Audi Forum in Neckarsulm held an event day, at which spectators were able to see other vehicles from the Audi heritage, but also spectacular experiments and a very varied children’s programme. At the special ‘Good Times’ exhibition, all the previous and current Audi models for the German Touring Car Championship were to be seen and admired.
