The Eifel Rally Festival was held from July 25 to 27 under the motto “40 Years of the World Rally Championship”. Audi Tradition was there for the first time – with an Audi Sport quattro Rallye and with Harald Demuth, twice winner of the German Rally Championship, as its guest.
The biggest mobile rally museum in Daun/Vulkaneifel, with participants from twelve countries, portrays rally history in a direct, easily appreciated way. All the 130 starting places were soon allocated. The organisers received almost 200 applications.
“Champions Parade” with the Audi Sport quattro Rallye
To match the “40 Years of the World Rally Championship” motto, a “Champions Parade“ led the field of entrants this year. Behind this year’s VIPs led by patron Walter Röhrl, the champion cars started in the order of their victories. First came the European manufacturers’ championship title holders from 1968 und 1969 and the winners of the International Manufacturers’ Championship from 1970 to 1972.
