The 40th International AUVC meeting was hosted by Audi Tradition in Ingolstadt from 2 – 4 August. In the finest summer weather, more than 320 cars and motorcycles bearing the four rings were to be seen on the Volksfestplatz (fairground) in Ingolstadt, including two rarities manufactured in Brazil, the DKW Belcar S and the DKW Fissore.
This was the fifth time that the Auto Union Veterans Club e.V. had been invited to Ingolstadt; the previous events there were held in 1983, 1988, 1993 and 2003. This year over 650 participants came to Ingolstadt from more than a dozen countries and three continents. The central location was the Volksfestplatz on Dreizehnerstrasse, where Auto Union GmbH built mopeds, motor scooters, motorcycles, the DKW rapid delivery van and the DKW Munga off-road vehicle until the end of the 1950s.
Distinguished guests: DKW Belcar S and DKW Fissore
On Friday, the car enthusiasts were able to tour the region and visit various highlights, including the Maybach Museum in Neumarkt, the Feser vehicle collection in Schwabach, as well as the Audi museum mobile and the AUDI AG factory. For the first time, Audi Tradition displayed two cars on the Volksfestplatz that were built in Brazil and that have recently been added to the historic car collection: the DKW Vemag Belcar S from 1967 and the DKW Vemag Fissore from 1966. Both of them travelled halfway round the world to arrive in time for the annual meeting in Ingolstadt.
Through the heart of Upper Bavaria on attractive minor roads
On Saturday morning, more than 320 cars and motorcycles set out from the Volksfestplatz for an excursion through the Jura region and along the Altmühl Valley to Kelheim. The special tour for motorcyclists along country roads was accompanied by none other than former DKW factory rider and world champion runner-up August Hobl. An attractive route was also chosen for the return journey to Ingolstadt. On Sunday, the 40th annual meeting concluded with a Bavarian breakfast.
More than 320 Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer vehicles, including, as exhibits, a 1967 DKW Vemag Belcar S and a 1966 DKW Vemag Fissore.
