FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Company, Ltd. - The oldest and largest automotive company in China, First Automobile Works (FAW), builds the Audi A4L, A6L and Q5 car lines for the Chinese market. The exclusive Audi dealer network is considered a benchmark for competition.
A joint venture was established in 1991, with AUDI AG entering as a partner four years later – since then the group has held 10 percent of the shares of FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Ltd. Vehicle production at the joint venture in Changchun encompasses the three primary segments of automobile manufacturing: body shop, paint shop and assembly. In the year 2011, 258,557 cars were produced by 9,700 employees.
The Audi models are sold via an exclusive dealership network comprising 230 dealers in more than 100 cities. Sales activities are managed by the Audi Sales Division (ASD) at FAW-VW. The number of dealers is to exceed 400 by the end of 2013.
Audi once again set a sales record in China (including Hong Kong) in 2011, extending its leading position in the Chinese premium segment. Deliveries to customers totaled 313,036 units, which is 37 percent more compared to the preceding year, making China the largest single market of Audi worldwide for the first time.
Changchun is home to China’s oldest and largest automotive company First Automobile Works (FAW). It means that the region leads the way in the Chinese automotive industry. Changchun is the capital of Jilin Province and is located in northeastern China, around one and a half hours by air from Beijing.
