Mechanical engineering is involved today where practically all industrially manufactured everyday products are concerned, such as cars, electronic equipment or tools.
Mechanical engineering integrates technologies and turns basic developments into marketable products. Mechanical engineers, therefore, work in many different areas, such as the planning and calculation of equipment, instruments and machines. Their assignments in this context include the selection and development of materials, the design of mechanical equipment – taking the principle of economically viable production into account – and the planning of production lines. The wide range of different areas in which mechanical engineering is involved is a constant challenge to engineers – this profession requires comprehensive, up-to-the-minute know-how about mechanics, automation technology, data processing and management, for example.
The content of your course
In this course, you receive the theoretical and practical basis for successful completion of the many different assignments required in connection with the development and maintenance of machines and equipment. The emphasis in the first phase of the course is on design theory, consisting of the basic subjects of mathematics, mechanics, thermodynamics, materials and manufacturing technology. The main phase of the course focuses on application of the fundamentals to machine design.
12-week theoretical phases at the Mosbach vocational academy alternate with 12-week practical phases at our locations in Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt. Deployment abroad is possible in this course, too.
In the practical phases, you go through various departments of our company and get to know AUDI AG as a result. You also carry out projects independently.
The course ends after three years with a bachelor thesis.

Students who complete this course successfully have an extremely wide range of different job opportunities, e.g. in design, manufacturing, technical development or toolmaking. Deployment in other interesting areas is also possible apart from these classic engineering fields.
