Audi manufactures “Vorsprung durch Technik” at nine sites with lengthy traditions of car manufacturing. Cutting-edge logistical processes, the synchronised Audi Production System and a highly qualified workforce of more than 60,000 guarantee uniform Audi standards worldwide. Every Audi production site achieves very high standards of quality, efficiency and environmental acceptability.
The worldwide network of Audi sites comprises the two German plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, as well as seven production facilities in Hungary, Belgium, China, India, Indonesia, Slovakia and Spain. And further to this there is Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. as a fully owned subsidiary of AUDI AG. The same motto applies for all of them: “one name, one standard, everywhere”.
The responsible use of natural resources and continual improvements in the environmental compatibility of products and production sites are vital aspects of Audi’s environmental policy. Audi aims to reduce its CO2 fleet emissions by around 20 percent by 2012. Location-based and company-specific CO2 emissions are to be reduced by 30 percent by 2020. To conserve resources in logistics, 70 percent of vehicles are shipped to their destination by rail. In addition, all AUDI AG sites operate in accordance with the European Union’s new Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
