museum mobileExhibitions

The permanent exhibition is the centrepiece of the museum mobile. From entrance level 0, the lift serves as a “time machine”, taking you back to the year 1899 on level 3, where the tour begins.

The two levels of the permanent exhibition, 1899 to 1945 and 1946 to 2000, are both divided into seven areas. Each area provides an overview of the given era; texts and images examine the relationship between cars, technology and society.

Multimedia presentations and hands-on exhibits
The exhibits are the highlights of the permanent exhibition. More than 80 cars and motorcycles illustrate the history of the company. 14 of them, the most important prototypes, are on a paternoster elevator that moves them continuously through each level of the building. Significant events during the evolution of the company with the four rings, for example the merger to form Auto Union in 1932, are described in multimedia presentations, allowing you to witness history in the making. The technology gallery with its interactive hands-on exhibits furthermore provides an overview of the major milestones during the development of the car.
