Ever since 1962, Audi has offered enthusiastic musicians from among its workforce an opportunity to join the company’s Philharmonic Wind Orchestra. This has around 60 members and performs at the Summer Concerts, gives a charity concert every autumn and accepts invitations to play at concerts throughout Germany.
Two-thirds of the orchestra’s players are current or former Audi employees, but other amateur players from the local region are also members. All of them share the enjoyment of making music together and are eager to explore less familiar artistic areas. Their repertoire includes high-quality light music and arrangements of classical symphonic works. In addition to these, conductor Christian Lombardi places strong emphasis on modern pieces composed specifically for wind band. In 1994 a jazz formation, the Audi Big Band, was formed from members of the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra.
