Awards for Audi in January 2013

“The best cars of 2013”: Audi A1 is the Best Compact Car
Readers of “auto motor und sport” have decided on “the best cars of 2013”. The Audi A1 won the Compact Car category to repeat its 2012 victory. Second place in the Midsize class went to the Audi A5/A5 Sportback. In the Premium Midsize class, the brand with the four rings took second and third place with the A6/A6 allroad quattro models and the A7 Sportback. In the Sports Car category, Audi achieved third place with the R8; in the Off-Road Vehicles category, readers voted the Audi Q5 into third place. In the Compact class third place went to the Audi A3. Audi most successful brand in “Best Cars 2013” in China
Audi is the most successful premium brand in the Chinese automotive market. That fact has now been underlined by its popularity among the readers of the Chinese edition of “auto motor und sport”. The locally built Audi A6 L even won two categories. It secured top spot in both the Upper Midsize category and the Domestic Upper Midsize category. The Audi Q5, also built locally, was the most popular model in the Local SUV & Offroader category. The accolade as winner of the Deluxe category went to the Audi A8 L. Scooping a total of six awards, Audi was thus the top performer in the brand ratings and also earned the title of Most Environment-Friendly Manufacturer. (January 30, 2013)

Audi A3 takes “Gelber Engel” for outstanding quality
The ADAC chose the Audi A3 out of 52 models as the winner of the “Gelber Engel” award in the Quality category. The 2013 results are based on ADAC breakdown statistics, the ADAC customer barometer (online), and the motor club's service satisfaction survey. The Audi A6 also found favor among readers, taking second spot in the quality ranking, while the Audi A4 garnered fifth place. (January 17, 2013)

Audi receives two awards for piloted parking
The technologies developed by Audi for piloted parking are also finding strong recognition by U.S. experts. The magazine “Popular Science” named the Audi system for piloted parking in parking garages as its Product of the Future. The magazine's editorial board thus honored the most important developments presented by Audi at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The technology media network “The Verge” also honored the new Audi system as the Best Automotive Technology at this year's CES. The system is set to move into the practice phase shortly. The new technology enables cars to park themselves in and to exit parking garages. The driver activates the function using a smartphone app. (January 15, 2013)

Audi A3 Sportback: Car of the Year in the UK
The Audi A3 Sportback was named “Car of the Year” at the “What Car? Awards”. The jury praised the combination of outstanding handling characteristics and superb workmanship. Cabin quality, in particular, was praised as the highest ever seen in a small family car. The Audi A3 Sportback was also crowned Small Family Car of the Year. (January 10, 2013)

Audi R8 scoops fourth successive “Sporting Car of the Year Award”
The Audi R8 secured the “Sporting Car of the Year Award” in UK. The readers of “Business Car Magazine” praised particularly its everyday usability and voted the R8 for the fourth time in a row on the first place in this class. Also the all-new Audi A3 Sportback was able to convince and was honored with the third place in the Business Car of the Year 2013 category. (January 22, 2013)

Audi S7 wins “Connected Car of the Year” Award 2013
The Audi S7 was named a “Connected Car of the Year” in the Luxury category by the american “Connected World Magazine”. Especially the infotainment system Audi connect™ was able to convince the several board members of the editorial team. Honored were vehicles of all sizes and performance categories with technology that offers the right balance of safety, convenience, and infotainment to the driver. (January 15, 2013)

“Best Cars 2013”: Seven Awards for Audi in Switzerland
The brand with the four rings has been in the medals in Switzerland, coming away with seven honors in the “Best Cars 2013” awards. Readers of “Auto Illustrierte”, the Swiss car magazine, rated 375 models and picked their favorites in ten categories. The Audi A1 impressed in the Small Car class and was awarded the top spot. The A3 came second in the Compact class. In the Midsize category, second and third places went to the A5/A5 Sportback and A4/A4 allroad quattro respectively. The A6 brought Audi further success, with a third place in the Luxury class, ahead of the A7 in fourth. Third place in the Cabriolet category went to the R8 Spyder. (January 17, 2013)

Audi e-gas project honored for ecological mobility
AUDI AG garnered an award in November for its e-gas project. The German Association for Economical and Environmentally Compatible Use of Energy (German: ASUE) presented Audi with the German Gas Industry Award for Innovation and Climate Protection in the category Environmentally Friendly Mobility. The award includes a cash prize of 15,000 euros.
