AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft.
With the foundation of AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. back in 1993, the starting signal was given for the construction of one of the world's most modern high-tech plants. After close consideration, Audi chose the location of Győr in Hungary. Components are transported between Győr and Ingolstadt by rail for environmental reasons.
Engine production and vehicle assembly
The success story of the Győr plant in Hungary began in October 1994, when the first four-cylinder five-valve engines rolled off its production line. After three further expansions, Győr now builds virtually the full range of Audi engines.
The Győr plant started with assembly of the Audi TT Coupé in 1998, followed by the Audi TT Roadster in 1999. Between 2001 and 2003, the Audi A3 and S3 models also left the production line in Hungary. Final assembly of the Audi A3 Cabriolet was added in 2007. Each of these models was a genuine collaborative product: the body was built and painted in Ingolstadt before being transported by rail to Győr for assembly.
