Audi 100 GL, 1975
In 1966 Auto Union became a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagenwerk AG. The carmakers in Ingolstadt were prevented from developing their own vehicle. As Head of Development, Ludwig Kraus did not think very much of such directives. The Audi 100 was developed, effectively in secret, under his guidance. Chrome wheel arches and double headlights identify the Audi 100 GL Saloon. This is the final and most powerful version in the seven-year history of the model. Negative steering scrub radius improved track control for the last two model years, making the wheels reminiscent in style to the Audi 80.
