Strengthening and expanding Audi locations
Audi consistently pursues its goal of developing company locations with a view to international expansion, while also providing a secure future for the domestic sites. Audi is expanding its worldwide production network in China with the new Audi plant in Foshan, where the Audi A3 comes off the assembly line. Starting in 2015, the Company will commence production in São José dos Pinhais, Brazil. The new A3 Sedan and the Audi Q3 are to be built in the south of the world’s sixth-largest economy. Furthermore, the Company plans to produce cars in Mexico from 2016. The new plant in San José Chiapa, to the east of Puebla, will build the successor to the current Audi Q5. In addition, Audi continues to gradually expand its site in Győr, Hungary.
A significant portion of total investment, namely 5.3 billion euros from 2013 to 2015, will be channeled into strengthening the domestic sites in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. Ingolstadt’s new body shop for the Audi A3 – currently the most advanced of its kind in the world – represents an important milestone. Further developments in the vicinity of the Ingolstadt site include the components manufacturing facility in Münchsmünster, and the Motorsport Center and Audi driving experience center in Neuburg an der Donau. Audi Neckarsulm’s expansion includes the new logistics hall on the site of the Böllinger Höfe industrial park in Heilbronn, which was put into operation at the start of 2014.
