The brand with the four rings filled the cockpits of its six Audi RS 5 DTM cars with highly talented drivers. The list of stars included two former DTM champions and also two rookies, one of which was René Rast, who won the 2017 drivers’ title.
German René Rast concluded his first full year in the DTM by becoming the 2017 drivers’ champion at the season finale hosted at the Hockenheimring. Rast drove alongside his Audi Sport teammates which included former champions Mattias Ekström (Sweden) and Mike Rockenfeller (Germany), and Jamie Green (Great Britain), Nico Müller (Switzerland) and fellow rookie Loïc Duval (France).
Eight race wins and five pole positions was the tally for the Audi drivers in the 2017 DTM season. All six drivers mounted the podium during the season, with the new champion René Rast, Mattias Ekström, Jamie Green and Mike Rockenfeller standing on the top step at least once each. Together in the DTM, they have won 48 races and have been on pole 43 times within the six drivers’ collective experience of 590 DTM races.
