Shining bright in Spielberg

Although ABT newcomer Nico Müller is the youngster among the two ABT drivers in terms of age and number of DTM races contested, the young Swiss appears anything but nervous. A charming accent and a winning smile off track and an easy-going driving style on track – after just four seasons Nico Müller has become fully established in the DTM, both as a person and a racer. Particularly in his debut year of 2014 he surprised by delivering a couple of top times in qualifying sessions. Nico Müller celebrated his first DTM win in 2016: At the home race of Audi at the Norisring, he won the second race of the weekend. In 2017, a double podium in Spielberg highlighted his DTM season, which also included GT3 racing with the Audi R8 LMS and his debut in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, when he drove at two events for Mattias Ekström’s EKS rallycross team.

“Position twelve in the overall classification is not what you wish for. Especially at the beginning of the year we made a few mistakes that quickly threw us out of the title race,” said Müller. “At least we were still able to set a few highlights, particularly my double podium at Spielberg. We can build on that for next year. I’d like to thank my team that always worked hard for success.”
