The relentless battle that is the Bathurst 12 Hour was characterised by numerous interruptions and incidents in 2017. Nevertheless, six Audi drivers from the Audi Sport customer racing circle celebrated podiums at the finish.
Trophies for two customer teams

While many of the top teams faced tough setbacks at Mount Panorama, several customers in the Audi R8 LMS mastered Australia’s largest endurance race without any issues. After a faultless drive, the two New Zealanders Daniel Gaunt and Matt Haliday, together with the Australian Ash Samadi, climbed the podium of the Pro-Am ranking for mixed driver line-ups.

As the best Audi team at the finish, they took second place in the class and came an overall seventh. Australians Marc Cini/Dean Fiore/Lee Holdsworth made it to the chequered flag in third position in the class and ninth overall. Their Audi R8 LMS also ran perfectly. Simon Evans/James Koundouris/Theo Koundrouris/Marcus Marshall reached eleventh place with the Supabarn team in another Audi R8 LMS.

Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing

“Huge congratulations to our customers on the class successes and the distance driven. Many big teams faced tough setbacks today, but our privateeer drivers have shown what they can do in an Audi R8 LMS.”
