Fourth victory for Audi

Audi has won the Nürburgring 24 Hours for the fourth time since 2012. The Audi R8 LMS from Audi Sport Team Land won the race with a 29-second advantage.
Drama galore

The conclusion could hardly have been more dramatic: Audi Sport Team Land had led for 3,172 kilometres, when a sensor problem occurred in the penultimate hour, which could not be solved completely. Nevertheless, the #29 Audi continued on track. When the rain began to fall, the team of Wolfgang Land was the first to switch to rain tyres and gained the decisive advantage. Connor De Phillippi and Kelvin van der Linde celebrated their first victory at the 24-hour race in the Eifel, teammate Christopher Mies his second and Markus Winkelhock already his third.

Audi Sport Team WRT completed the podium success: Marcel Fässler, Robin Frijns, Nico Müller and René Rast finished third. Audi led more than 90 per cent of the race overall.

Successful customers

The brand with the four rings was not only on top in the overall classification. The LMS Engineering customer team won the highly competitive SP 3T class with an Audi TT RS. Bonk Motorsport achieved positions two and three with its Audi RS 3 LMS cars in the TCR class of the 24-hour race. The new Audi R8 LMS GT4 also achieved its target on its debut. Audi Sport Team Phoenix finished third and fifth in the SP-X class with the two production-like sports cars.
