May saw the fourth overall Nürburgring 24 Hours victory being decided in favour of the brand with the four rings. 


The 45th edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours witnessed a thrilling conclusion. Audi Sport Team Land emerged victorious after winning the game of tyre poker when rain arrived during the closing stages. South African Kelvin van der Linde crossed the finish line in first place with the no. 29 Audi R8 LMS, taking the win together with his teammates Christopher Mies, Connor De Phillippi and Markus Winkelhock. Audi Sport Team WRT finished third with Marcel Fässler, Robin Frijns, Nico Müller and René Rast. 

The new Audi R8 LMS GT4 also completed its debut race at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Both of the new production-based sports cars from Audi Sport Team Phoenix finished the gruelling race, finishing third and fifth in the SP-X class. 

The Audi customers were also successful elsewhere in the world. Alessio Picariello and Alex Yoong each won a race in the Audi R8 LMS Cup season opener at Sepang, with Picariello leading the standings. Singha Plan B Motorsport won its class with an Audi R8 LMS in the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup season opener at Sepang. 


In New Zealand, Smeg Racing won the season opener of the North Island Endurance Series with Simon Evans and Gene Rollinson, and the Red Bull Ring in Austria saw Ronny C’Rock from Land-Motorsport taking victory in the DMV GTC. The final race weekend of the fifth month concluded with victories in North America and Australia, adding more silverware to the weekend of the Nürburgring 24 Hours triumph: Magnus Racing, with Spencer Pumpelly and Dane Cameron, won a Pirelli World Challenge SprintX race at Lime Rock Park, and Jamec Pem Racing took the honours in the Australian Endurance Championship season opener at Phillip Island with the duo of Tim Miles and Jaxon Evans behind the wheel. Rounding out the result were two victories for Audi customers in the China GT Championship at Goldenport and the GT Masters China at Zhuhai.

The Audi RS 3 LMS was also a front-runner in many series. The new customer race car celebrated victories in the Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car class in Canada, the International TCR Series in Belgium and Italy, TCR Russia, TCR Benelux, TCR Spain-Ibérico and TCR Portugal.
