The Formula One circuit in Barcelona is the venue for the season opener from 14 to 15 April. This is where Ekström will race together with his new teammate Andreas Bakkerud for the first time.
Starting with a highlight

The event in Barcelona is one of the clear favourites of Ekström and EKS Audi Sport. Not only because the Swede has won at the Circuit de Barcelona-Cataluny twice before, but also because of the predominantly good weather and the excellent Spanish food that brings a smile to Ekström’s face. Teammate Bakkerud also gets along well with the fast track near the Catalan metropolis. In 2017, he was on the podium alongside Ekström.

Race facts

The circuit is one of the few rallycross tracks with very fast first corners on asphalt. This layout very much suits DTM driver Ekström and his Audi S1 EKS RX quattro.

Further on in the lap, there are some full-throttle sections, a huge jump and a treacherous hairpin, where the fans always get to see spectacular overtaking manoeuvres.

The circuit in Barcelona is 1.135 kilometres long and is 60 percent asphalt and 40 percent gravel.
