The fully electric Audi e-tron Sportback concept is the next logical step in our development of emission-free driving. It proves emphatically how thrilling electromobility can be and how much potential it holds for the future. The Audi e-tron Sportback concept offers fully electric driving without compromise.
The Audi e-tron Sportback concept embodies a symbiosis of electrification and everyday usability: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and produces up to 320 kW of power (boosting up to 370 kW), and it combines this performance with a high degree of comfort and a range of up to 500 kilometres. Perfect, therefore, for everyday use – and more.
The newly developed e-tron quattro drive system transfers this power directly onto the road. The enormous torque produced by the electric motor is brilliantly transformed and applied to every road surface for an extraordinary driving experience. And the new quattro drive also recycles energy, making the Audi e-tron Sportback concept even more efficient.
The Audi e-tron Sportback concept shows that an entirely electric future is full of promise. But even now, Audi already offers a range of powerful hybrid vehicles. The Audi Q7 e-tron quattroq7etron, which is the first ever plug-in hybrid to feature quattro, is extraordinarily efficient and offers the highest electric range in its segment. The compact Audi A3 Sportback e-trona3etron combines the strengths of an electric drive system with the benefits of a combustion engine. Electric driving and long range, thanks to its powerful four-cylinder unit – for everyday use.
We’re taking things even further and developing other alternative drive solutions to bring us closer to our vision of emission-free mobility. This includes the Audi g-tron fleet in conjunction with our pioneering Audi e-gas. This system combines performance, design and long-distance mobility with renewable energies. It’s already available in the Audi A3 Sportback g-trona3gtron and soon will be in the Audi A4 Avant g-trona4gtron and Audi A5 Sportback g-trona5gtron. But that’s not all: Audi h-tron reveals the potential of fuel cell technology, which uses hydrogen as a source of energy for long-range driving and high performance.
And we are expanding our sustainable approach with Audi e-fuels: synthetic fuels that obtain their energy from renewable energy sources and bind in CO2 during manufacture. One example is Audi e-gas. In a succession of processes, CO2 is taken from the atmosphere and converted into Audi e-gas using biomethane and power-to-gas plants. Power-to-gas plants only use renewable energies to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is released into the air and the hydrogen reacts with CO2 from a biomethane plant to create methane: our Audi e-gas. Our focus, therefore, is not on cars alone, it begins already with the production of fuel.
