The extra hour

At Design Miami/ 2016 Audi presents „The extra hour“ by LEGO, inspired by the Audi RS 7 piloted driving concept.

The Audi of tomorrow could be a workplace, a place of relaxation and a place of enjoyment. When the car of the future drives automatically, the people on board will be able to make good use of their time. In this fully automated car, the driver will then become the passenger, deciding what to do with the time currently spent concentrating behind the wheel or being stressed out in traffic congestion.

The exta hour” is a metaphor for a new kind of freedom and control over time.

The installation illustrates this idea: Thirteen numerals arranged around the vehicle form a giant clock. The number 25 symbolizes the extra hour, enabled by piloted driving technology.

The RS 7 piloted driving concept provides a glimpse into the future of driving.

The vehicle is a vanguard of the type of intelligent, intuitive and connected driving that vehicles of the future will be capable of. Advantages of intelligent driver assistance technologies will be debuted in the forthcoming generation of the A8 model and herald the widespread use of driver assistance technologies in the future. For Design Miami/ 2016, Audi partners up with The LEGO group.
