Audi 100 LS, 1970

In 1966 Auto Union became a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagenwerk AG. The carmakers in Ingolstadt were prevented from developing their own vehicle. As Head of Development, Ludwig Kraus did not think very much of such directives. The Audi 100 was developed, effectively in secret, under his guidance. The first model generation of the Audi 100 LS appealed to customers with two different engine versions and attractive equipment packages. Almost 800,000 units of the Audi 100 model series C1 were built between 1969 and 1976.
