DKW RT 125/1 Army, 1943

The DKW RT 125, first shown to the public in 1939, was the masterpiece of DKW‘s chief designer Hermann Weber. The military authorities were uninterested at first, because of the low power output of only 4.75 hp, but soon began to appreciate the RT 125‘s potential for off-road riding in particular, on account of its light weight. The Army version seen here is only slightly different from the civilian version: the light alloy crankcase had to give way to a grey iron casting in order to economise on valuable raw material.
