The Audi R8 LMS, the teams and the drivers of Audi Sport customer racing were well prepared for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Even so, the best squad only finished in sixth position.
Harsh conditions

In the 46th running of the endurance race the Eifel revealed itself at its worst. Changeable weather conditions with rain and fog caused the race to be interrupted three and a half hours before the end. One of the victims of the difficult conditions was Kelvin van der Linde. Last year’s winner was in position three when he touched the guard rails on Sunday morning. During the repairs Audi Sport Team Land lost three laps, dropped to eighth position and subsequently fought back to sixth place. Brothers Kelvin and Sheldon van der Linde shared driving duties with Christopher Mies and René Rast, directly trailed by Audi Sport Team Phoenix with Christopher Haase/Nico Müller/Frank Stippler/Frédéric Vervisch.

Podium in class

The customer teams showed strong performances in the other classes. Phoenix Racing with the Audi R8 LMS GT4 was leading the SP 8 class up until a defect after ten hours of racing. Team Prosport-Performance GmbH was battling for victory in the TCR category before being forced to retire. Team Bonk Motorsport, which fielded another Audi RS 3 LMS, on clinching third place in this class, mounted the podium again like last year.
