September brought with it a collection of titles for many of the Audi Sport customer racing teams around the world.

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT celebrated a tremendous weekend in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup final at the Nürburgring: With a one-two result, they won the teams’ title and also the drivers’ title with the race winners in the Eifel, Stuart Leonard and Robin Frijns.

Geoff Emery from Jamec Pem Racing won the drivers’ title of the Australian GT Championship during the season finale at Sandown, where Emery won one of the weekend’s three races.

Alessio Picariello and his MGT by Absolute team were crowned as the drivers’ and teams’ champions of the 2017 Audi R8 LMS Cup when he took victory in the second race during Audi Sport Festival at Shanghai, his fourth race win of the season. The Shanghai weekend’s first race was won by Dries Vanthoor, who clinched his first win in his debut race in the Asian Audi one-make cup. The drivers’ titles of the Am+ Cup and Am Cup were won by David Chen and Bhurit Bhirombhakdi respectively at the season finale at Zhejiang in October.

In Thailand, B-Quik Racing won the Super Car GTM Plus class teams’ standings of the Thailand Super Series for the first time thanks to its results at the Buriram finale.

Hill climb titles: Luis Monzón Artiles, with an Audi R8 LMS ultra from Auto Laca Competición, won the finale of the Canary Islands Hill Climb Championship Subida Fataga in Gran Canaria. He is the winner of the 2017 Campeonato DISA de Canarias de Montaña. The driver racing under the assumed name of “Tessitore” won the title of the FIA European Hill Climb Championship with his third place in the Buzetski Dani race in Buzestina, Croatia.

Appearance at the IAA: Audi, in addition to its world premieres, presented the Audi R8 LMS race car to the guests of the Volkswagen Group Night at the International Motor Show. Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing, was in Frankfurt together with Christopher Haase and the Spa-winning Audi R8 LMS GT3 sports car displayed in its original condition.


At Imola in Italy, Audi Sport Italia celebrated its first overall race win in the 2017 Italian GT Championship. Benoît Tréluyer and Vittorio Ghirelli won the weekend’s second race, whilst their teammates Luca Magnoni and Luca Rangoni won the GT3 category for older vehicle generations in an Audi R8 LMS ultra, adding to Audi Sport Italia’s success.

Montaplast by Land-Motorsport clinched a race win in the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring with Christopher Mies and Connor De Phillippi behind the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS. One week later at the Hockenheim finale, the team from Niederdreisbach took second place in the teams’ standings thanks to two podium finishes.

The sixth round of the VLN Endurance Championship witnessed an Audi R8 LMS 1-2 triumph with Robin Frijns and Connor De Phillippi (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) taking the victory ahead of Frank Stippler and Nicolaj Møller Madsen (Phoenix Racing).

HCB-Rutronik Racing dominated the DMV GTC race weekend with its Audi R8 LMS cars at Zolder: Fabian Plentz and Tommy Tulpe each won one of the two sprint races, and then Plentz and Egon Allgäuer won the Dunlop 60 race.


The final day of September witnessed a one-two success in New Zealand: The International Motorsport team won in the three-hour race of the South Island Endurance Series in Ruapuna, with Andrew Bagnall and Matt Halliday winning ahead of teammates Neil Foster and Jonny Reid.

Rod Salmon and Steven McLaughlan, both driving Audi R8 LMS ultra cars, each won a race during the penultimate round of the Australian GT Trophy Series at Phillip Island.  


Audi customers celebrated a one-two-three finish in the Blancpain GT Series Asia at Shanghai: Audi Hong Kong won the first race with Marchy Lee and Shaun Thong driving an Audi R8 LMS, ahead of the Audi R8 LMS cars of Aditya Patel and Mitchell Gilbert (OD Racing), and Alex Au and Alex Yoong (Audi R8 LMS Cup) on the full Audi podium.

Cheng Congfu and Anthony Liu clinched a race win with an Audi R8 LMS from BBT during the fourth race weekend of the China GT Championship, which was held during the Audi Sport Festival at Shanghai.

In addition, as part of the Audi Sport Festival at Shanghai, the brand for the first time presented the Audi R8 LMS GT4 in China. Customers can start to buy the latest product from Audi Sport customer racing at the end of the year.


Dmitry Bragin won the TCR Russia title with an Audi RS 3 LMS at the Kazanring, where Bragin won the final race of the season. This is the first title win involving the Audi RS 3 LMS in its debut season.

In the ADAC TCR Germany at the Sachsenring, Sheldon van der Linde celebrated a race victory with an Audi RS 3 LMS from the AC 1927 Mayen e.V. im ADAC team, which went on to clinch runner-up in the teams’ standings once week later at the Hockenheim finale.

Lorenzo Donniacuo won the first sprint race with an Audi RS 3 LMS from Bas Koeten Racing at round five of the TCR Benelux on the Belgian circuit in Mettet.
