In round three of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup a breakthrough has been achieved: Audi Sport Team Comtoyou with Frédéric Vervisch in the Audi RS 3 LMS clinched two podium results. His teammate, Nathanaël Berthon, scored points as well.

Thrilling slipstream duels

The Nordschleife of the Nürburgring can always be expected to spring a surprise. Frédéric Vervisch in round one of three was on course for points when a piece of debris on track destroyed the radiator of his Audi. In race two the Belgian from Audi Sport Team Comtoyou improved from position nine on the grid to third place. He secured his podium place after a slipstream duel at Döttinger Höhe and the crucial overtaking manoeuvre shortly before the chequered flag fell. In the final race, number three, Vervisch celebrated second position.

best performances

Nathanaël Berthon, a teammate of Frédéric Vervisch’s, was pleased about having scored his best results this season to date as well. The Frenchman achieved fifth place in race three for Audi Sport Team Comtoyou, so clinching his best result this year. Aurélien Panis set his personal best mark by claiming eleventh position twice. For Denis Dupont, position twelve meant his best performance this season. Jean-Karl Vernay from Audi Sport Team WRT scored points in all three races. Fifth place in race one was the best result at the Nürburgring weekend for the Frenchman who had been victorious in the season opener.
