High performance redefined, individually refined: Audi Sport GmbH

Outstanding performance on four wheels.

Founded over 40 years ago with just a handful of employees, Audi Sport GmbH – formerly quattro GmbH – now shapes the sporty and exclusive image of the four rings. Audi Sport GmbH is also responsible for vehicle customization through the Audi exclusive program, and for product marketing for the most powerful Audi models: those with the RS logo.

The Audi Sport GmbH portfolio currently comprises six models, from the compact Audi RS 3 with its legendary inline five-cylinder turbo engine to the RS Q8* with its twin-charged eight-cylinder engine, right up to the fully electric high-performance spearhead of the four rings: the RS e-tron GT*.

Where craftsmanship meets smart factory

Audi Böllinger Höfe, the flagship location for small-series production in Neckarsulm, is where the derivatives of the e-tron GT family are produced, including the S e-tron GT*, RS e-tron GT*, and RS e-tron GT performance*. Here, precise manufacturing and the smart production of the future come together over almost 40,000 square meters. Audi Sport GmbH employs around 1,000 people at its sites in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm including Böllinger Höfe.

Böllinger Höfe also plays a special role as a real-world laboratory for advancing digitalization in production and logistics. This is where Audi tests intelligent solutions for the fully networked and smart factory, develops them further, and then adapts them for large-scale production, for example at the Neckarsulm plant.

In May 2025, Audi became the first company worldwide to use a virtual programmable logic controller from Siemens on the Edge Cloud 4 Production (EC4P) platform in body shop production at Böllinger Höfe. The TÜV-certified vSPS works with a safety function specially developed by Siemens. This enables Audi to lay the foundation for flexible, data-driven production, and to control and monitor manufacturing in real time, regardless of location.

The Mission: Zero

Production at Audi Böllinger Höfe is also net carbon neutral*. To this end, Audi obtains green electricity and heat from renewable sources. Audi offsets CO₂ emissions that cannot yet be avoided through renewable energy sources with carbon credits from certified climate protection projects. Audi Sport Production is thus making an important contribution to Mission:Zero – the Audi environmental program for consistently sustainable production. A central goal of the program is to achieve CO₂-neutral* production at all sites* by 2025.

No wish remains unfulfilled

Audi Sport GmbH’s success is also due in part to its equipment program and the Audi exclusive customization program. For example, the sporty Audi subsidiary offers numerous equipment packages exclusively for RS models. The Audi exclusive team focuses on personalizing vehicles to meet individual customer needs.

Audi exclusive’s vision: to combine sustainability and customization in attractive offers for Audi customers, and to enable them to enjoy a special experience. This also includes new digital solutions, such as the “Audi exclusive Customizer”, a visualization tool that allows customers to design their vehicles live in a 3D model, exploring thousands of individual combinations to create something unique to them.

The sporty Audi subsidiary is heading into the future with a clear and consistent electrification strategy. Its ambition: to set the standard for high-performance customer experience in electrification on the road.
