GT3: BIG VICTORY FOR AUDI SPORT AT SUZUKA
Audi Sport customer racing has won the 10 Hours of Suzuka, the fourth round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, with the R8 LMS.

AUDI R8 LMS IN FRONT
In the end, an Audi R8 LMS sporting a very special livery was in front: the number 25 nogaro blue GT3 racing car was reminiscent of the first RS model presented by Audi Sport 25 years ago. From the third hour of racing on, the three Audi Sport drivers Kelvin van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor and Frédéric Vervisch with Audi Sport Team WRT maintained their top spot in a strong international field of 36 entrants. As a result, Audi took a big step forward in the standings before the finale: Frédéric Vervisch, now in third place of the drivers’ classification, is separated from the leader by only six points. Consequently, anything is possible in the finale at Kyalami in South Africa on 23rd November.

ALL THREE RACING CARS FINISH
Up until the last hour of racing, Audi had justified hopes of scoring a one-two result. The Audi R8 LMS of Audi Sport Team Absolute Racing with Christopher Haase, Christopher Mies and Markus Winkelhock was running in second position up until the final pit stop. However, a delay in refuelling caused the team to drop to seventh position. A third Audi R8 LMS was fielded by the Japanese Audi team Hitotsuyama. Alessio Picariello, Richard Lyons and Ryuichiro Tomita achieved 17th position. A drive-through penalty and a slow puncture had caused the squad to lose ground early. With all three racing cars having finished, Audi once again underlined the qualities of the GT3 car for customer racing.
