CLASS PODIUM DOWN UNDER
The Bathurst 12 Hour, the once-around-the-clock endurance challenge at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Australia, saw the Hallmarc team scoring third place in the Pro-Am class. The Audi R8 LMS was driven by Marc Cini, Dean Fiore and Lee Holdsworth. This marked the fourth class podium for the long-standing Audi customer Marc Cini in the classic 12-hour endurance race. With this result, the trio scored third place in the Australian Endurance Championship classification.
In the Australian GT Trophy Series at Sandown, Matt Stoupas from the KFC team took victory in both of the weekend’s races behind the wheel of his Audi R8 LMS ultra. His teammate, Garry Higgon, finished third twice. The Audi R8 LMS ultra also enjoyed success in North American club racing, where Jason Daskalos took two GT3 class podium finishes in the season finale of the 2019/2020 SRO Winter Invitational Series at The Thermal Club.
After clinching the first class victory of the Audi R8 LMS GT2 in California in January, Dimitri Novikov repeated this success in the SRO Winter Invitational Series at The Thermal Club. Novikov piloted the GT2 sports car to class victory in the weekend’s second race, following a runner-up finish in the first race one day earlier.
Longtime Audi Sport customers, GMG Racing, celebrated two GT4 class victories in the SRO Winter Invitational Series at The Thermal Club. Alex Welch triumphed in his class in both of the races behind the wheel an Audi R8 LMS GT4 – the same car with which he won the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge SprintX drivers’ title.
