The fourth month of the year witnessed the Audi Sport customer racing teams clinching victories with the Audi R8 LMS in the opening two race weekends of the Blancpain GT Series and the ADAC GT Masters. The Audi RS 3 LMS also secured its first WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup triumph.

Two weeks later, at Monza in Italy, the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup began its season with Belgian Audi Club Team WRT winning the three-hour race with the Audi R8 LMS driven by the trio of Dries Vanthoor, Christopher Mies and Alex Riberas.
Oschersleben saw an Audi R8 LMS one-two result in the opening race of the ADAC GT Masters season when Phoenix Racing’s Max Hofer and Philip Ellis were victorious ahead of Sheldon and Kelvin van der Linde from Montaplast by Land-Motorsport. A fortnight later, BWT Mücke Motorsport celebrated its first win in the ADAC GT Masters with Stefan Mücke and Jeffrey Schmidt piloting their Audi R8 LMS to victory in the weekend’s first race at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.
Audi Sport Italia clinched a race win with Bar Baruch and Marcel Fässler in an Audi R8 LMS in the second race of the Italian GT Championship season opener at Imola.
In Australia, the Audi privateers were unbeatable with their Audi R8 LMS cars in the opening round of the CAMS NSW Production Sports Car Championship in Sydney. The two sprint races were respectively decided in favour of Nick Kelly and Daniel Gaunt, followed by Gaunt and Gary Higgon together winning the one-hour race. At Mallala, the new GT-1 Australia racing series saw Matt Stoupas and Rio Nugara each taking a GT3 class win in Audi R8 LMS ultra cars.
Three victories were also achieved in Hungary: Marcin Jedliński from Olimp Racing won the second sprint race and the endurance race of the FIA CEZ at the Hungaroring. Richard Chlad jr. (K&K Racing Team) won the first sprint race and also completed an Audi 1-2 in the endurance race when he finished second, sharing the car with his father, Richard Chlad.
The DMV GTC hosted its opening two race weekends at the Hockenheimring and Dijon during April: In Hockenheim, “Ronny C’Rock” won the opening sprint race for Land-Motorsport and Carrie Schreiner won the second race. Schreiner won the Dunlop 60 races at both venues, sharing with Fabian Plentz at Hockenheim and with Kevin Arnold at Dijon. (All were driving Audi R8 LMS cars). Arnold, behind the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS, won his class in the sprint races at both venues and in the Dunlop 60 race at Hockenheim. Jean-Luc Weidt, in an Audi R8 LMS GT4, won his class in the Dunlop 60 race at Dijon.
Once again on top: In Virginia, as was the case at the opening round of the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX GTS class at the Circuit of The Americas in March when the Audi R8 LMS GT4 celebrated its maiden victory in North America, GMG Racing again won the weekend’s second one-hour race with James Sofronas and Alex Welch.
Phoenix Racing opened its account in the GT4 European Series by winning the first race at Zolder. The victorious duo of Milan Dontje and Nicolaj Møller Madsen were behind the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS GT4. In the GT4 Central European Cup at Autodrom Most, Hamza Owega from the Racing One team won the opening race as a non-points-scoring guest entry.
