For Robin Frijns, the 2018 season began with him becoming an Audi factory driver in the DTM, a dream come true for the young driver. “I have dreamed of the DTM for a long time. It is an iconic championship with very exciting racing, exactly what I enjoy,” says Frijns. The Dutchman, who hails from Maastricht and currently lives in Belgium, began his career in karting, and in single-seater racing made it all the way into Formula 1 as a test and reserve driver. In 2015, he made the switch to Audi Sport customer racing in GT racing. With the Audi R8 LMS, Frijns has twice won titles in the Blancpain GT Series. Frijns impressed with strong speed during his first two DTM seasons in 2018 and 2019, which included seven podium finishes. He is also a driver who has double duty: Alongside his factory commitment with Audi in the DTM, he is also racing for Envision Virgin Racing in the FIA Formula E, the British customer team that races with the Audi e-tron FE06.
