
VERSATILE RACER
Nico Müller is the most experienced DTM driver within the ABT team, nevertheless, the Swiss and his DTM teammate Robin Frijns formed the youngest Audi factory driver combination on the DTM grid in 2020. A charming accent and a winning smile off track and an easy-going driving style on track – after six seasons, Nico Müller has become fully established in the DTM, both as a person and a racer. Particularly in his debut year of 2014 he surprised by delivering a couple of top times in qualifying sessions. Nico Müller celebrated his first DTM win in 2016: At the home race of Audi at the Norisring, he won the second race of the weekend. In recent years, Müller scored more podium finishes in the DTM and also proved his versatility by taking part in races in the FIA World Rallycross Championship and in GT3 competition with the Audi R8 LMS. The Swiss was also the official test and development driver for the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team in Formula E, setting best times during testing. In 2019, the beginning of the new turbo era in the DTM saw Müller fighting for the title. He won two races and ultimately finished as the runner-up in the drivers’ championship. Müller again showed his strength in the final season of the Class 1 race cars in 2020, winning six races and finishing as the runner-up again after keeping his title hopes alive until the final race of the season at Hockenheim.
