GT3: Catch-up race in Indianapolis
The second round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the Indianapolis 8 Hour race, turned out to be a catch-up race for the Audi R8 LMS of Audi Sport Team Hardpoint WRT.

Unpredictable weather
Starting from ninth place on the grid, Markus Winkelhock in the early stages of the race in the US state of Indiana battled his way through the field into the top three group. The onset of rain caused treacherous track conditions on the traditional circuit, which the Audi Sport driver mastered well. When his team-mate Spencer Pumpelly took over, irregular showers made the track conditions even more unpredictable. A total of three punctures threw the team back to ninth place. The Audi R8 LMS with the number 31 lost three laps to the leader.

Catching up successfully
Markus Winkelhock then improved to fifth place again and handed over the cockpit to Mirko Bortolotti for the final phase. The Audi Sport driver from Italy continued the catch-up race and finished in fourth place despite a drive-through penalty.
The customer team GMG Racing achieved sixth place in its class with the Audi R8 LMS GT4 after eight hours of racing.
