SIGNIFICANT BOOST IN PERFORMANCE

A year ago, the Hungaroring proved to be a difficult circuit for Audi: with a yield of eighth place and just 17 points between all drivers. Now, the second race weekend was considerably better for the Audi RS 3 LMS. Earning 54 championship points, the drivers harvested more than three times as many points compared to last year. Jean-Karl Vernay again finished on the podium. At the opening round in Marrakesh, the Frenchman driving for Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport achieved second place. He repeated this feat again in the second race in Hungary – taking home the 20th trophy for the Audi RS 3 LMS.

GRIPPING PURSUIT RACE

No less than three Audi Sport drivers put in a spirited chase in Hungary. In race one, Jean-Karl Vernay improved from eighth to fourth place. Frédéric Vervisch from Comtoyou Team Audi Sport made up four positions in this race to take the flag in sixth place. Both drivers earned points from all three races. Gordon Shedden driving for Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport also looked on track to claim points: In the second race he had ploughed his way from 25th on the grid to eleventh place, only to be shunted into retirement from a tough manoeuvre by a fellow competitor. The next round on the FIA WTCR calendar will be held in two weeks on the Slovakiaring.
