WTCR – BEST WTCR WEEKEND FOR AUDI

In round five of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup at the Nürburgring Audi Sport customer racing claimed its best result so far this season and scored 88 points – more than ever before this year.

TWO PODIUMS IN THE EIFEL

Frédéric Vervisch even mounted the podium in the Eifel twice. In the second race the Belgian in an Audi RS 3 LMS had moved forwards from fourth on the grid to second position on the challenging Nordschleife and in the third race even from seventh to second place. In total, the Audi Sport driver scored 51 points, thus moving up from eleventh to fifth place in the standings. As a result, the Audi RS 3 LMS has claimed an amazing 23 podium finishes in the TCR racing series that was incepted last year.

STRONG FIGHTBACK

However, not only the Belgian made a strong showing. His Dutch teammate, Niels Langeveld, in the third race moved forwards from 26th on the grid to twelfth position. Jean-Karl Vernay from Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport in the same round improved from the 15th spot on the grid to position four. His Scottish teammate, Gordon Shedden, made up seven positions and crossed the finishing line in ninth. As a result, all four Audi Sport drivers scored points. Guest entrant Antti Buri from Finland in a privately fielded Audi RS 3 LMS, by claiming the second spot on the grid in race two, made a notable showing as well.
