THIS STREET CIRCUIT IS VERY DIFFERENT TO MOST OTHER STREET CIRCUITS. WE HAVE A HUGE AMOUNT OF ELEVATION CHANGES. IT IS VERY FAST AND YOU HAVE QUITE A FEW BLIND CORNERS. PLUS, THE STREETS ARE EXTREMELY NARROW. THAT MAKES FOR THRILLING RACING.

RACE FACTS

RACE FACTS

Motorsport events with cars have been held on the hilly roads near Vila Real since the 1930s. However, races took place only sporadically for financial reasons. The city race in Vila Real has only been firmly established on the international race calendar since the first visit of the FIA WTCC in 2005.

The 4.785-kilometre city street circuit in Vila Real features many elevation changes and challenging turns. On the long downhill section, speeds of nearly 230 km/h are achieved. The race has a special feature as the drivers, similar to the format of Rallycross, have to complete a longer joker lap once per race.
