Thinking outside the box

Audi is helping to shape the digital revolution. We are dismantling and reinventing current processes, structures and routines. To take advantage of the opportunities this affords, we are making our employees fit for the future.

Equipped with know-how for the digital revolution

The training and advanced development of our employees are elemental success factors for digitalization. Humans and machines work hand in hand at Audi, with the focus always on humans. We offer a multitude of measures and projects to prepare our employees for the digital revolution.

Fit for big data

Fit for big data

Digitalization requires agile work methods, updated know-how and new thought patterns. If we do not train our employees and prepare them for the transformation, we will not be able to further develop our services or ourselves as a company. The lesson plan for our data.comp training campaign includes such topics as big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Promoting these competences and work methods will enable us to advance the development of autonomous vehicles and robots.

Developing solutions outside the norm, creating new business models and generating ideas for the mobility of the future – these are the objectives of the Audi Denkwerkstatt. Besides a variety of startups, a fixed team of seven Audi employees also works at the Berlin co-working space. They receive backup for six months at a time by as many as 15 employees from all divisions, sites, hierarchical levels and age group.

Generating ideas: In dialog with the start-up scene employees dispatched from different Audi divisions work on strategically important future topics.

I worked with entrepreneurs who use completely different processes, approaches and methods for organizing projects and ideation than we do at Audi. We can put a lot of that to good use here.

Creative exchange for innovative solutions

Creative exchange for innovative solutions

In the “Agile Process Workshop”, which was created to optimize and digitize Audi’s core processes, employees from various divisions work together – in part using agile work methods. The first process workshop convened in Gaimersheim near Ingolstadt in 2017 with a pilot project regarding product data management in the vehicle development process. Working across departmental and hierarchical boundaries opens up dialogue and creates transparency. “The Agile Process Workshop provides key ideas for the further development of work methods at Audi,” said Arno Lang, Head of Strategic Consulting at Audi Consulting.

The Agile Process Workshop format shows how experts in different fields can collaborate effectively on highly complex topics.
