Special message with the Audi digital matrix light

‘Future is an attitude’. This slogan also represents the partnership between Audi and Bayern Munich, which is characterised by inspiration, motivation and the courage to embrace change. This attitude is transferred both to Audi and to FC Bayern, because the partnership flourishes primarily through their employees. An example of this is César Muntada, Chief Lighting Designer for Audi.

César, his team, and their technical counterpart in lighting development work with revolutionary digital matrix LED technology every day. This technology continually improves driver safety, while at the same time constituting a creative ‘signature element’ for Audi.
A chip no bigger than a fingernail can control up to 1.3 million micromirrors individually. The street is individually illuminated by the digital matrix LED functions directly projecting a high-resolution carpet of light, ensuring significantly greater safety and comfort for the driver. Other road users are automatically detected and accurately masked out to avoid dazzling them – which also sets a new standard in terms of safety.

However, this fascinating technology also represents a great playground for engineers and lighting designers to experiment on every day, and it is how passionate FC Bayern fan César came up with his innovative idea. With the help of Audi’s digital matrix LED headlights, he developed a really head-turning display: an unprecedented message of congratulations to FC Bayern for winning the second treble in the club’s history last season.

César’s story shows that the connection between Audi and FC Bayern goes far beyond a normal partnership. Future is an attitude!
