International Hot Jazz Quartet + 2
Did you know? 2017 celebrates the first jazz record for its 100th birthday. It was recorded in 1917 by the original Dixieland Jazz band. A milestone of modern music that the International Hot Jazz Quartet now wants to celebrate with two distinguished guests at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt.
In fact, hardly anyone seems better for this particular type of historical appreciation as the international collection of musicians that saxophonist and clarinetist Engelbert Wrobel put together. He and trumpeter Duke Heitger, pianist Paolo Alderighi, and drummer Bernard Flegar represent a new generation of hot jazz musicians who fascinate every audience with authentic New Orleans jazz and Harlem Swing from the 1920s and 1930s. The quartet experiences a special appreciation by the bassist and vocalist Nicki Parrott from Australia, once a member of the Les Paul Trio, and trombonist Dan Barrett from the United States, who played in Benny Goodman's legendary big band. Nevertheless, the ensemble never serve up the hits of Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson, and Roy Eldridge as museum pieces, but interpret them in a fresh and contemporary way. The International Hot Jazz Quartet and its guests master the high art of combining musical perfection and unbridled pleasure.
