It’s easy to feel like we already know all there is to know about Washington, D.C. Its global image and impact as the U.S. capital have taken center stage in some of recent history’s most pivotal events. Still, there’s much more to D.C. than meets the eye — or evening news.
As FC Bayern travels to the United States this summer, Audi has invited them to explore facets of the city that are shaping the future in more ways than one.

The club’s players take to Audi Field to learn more about how sustainable progress is achieved only when we approach the issue from multiple perspectives.
Audi Field — Promoting the switch to circular economy

Audi Field — Promoting the switch to circular economy
Along with its partners, Audi is dedicated to the future of soccer in the US. The Bayern stars witness this first-hand as they visit their first Audi Football Summit opponent’s home turf: Audi Field. The DC United defender Julian Gressel is there to show them how his home stadium provides a unique atmosphere for fans to watch and experience soccer. The architectural structure includes an “interactive plaza” linking to ancillary development that serves as community-gathering space year-round. In a way, Audi Field was designed at the intersection of stadium culture and urban community and draws the two closer to each other. What’s more, the stadium’s designers were going for LEED Gold in terms of implementing sustainable features wherever they saw an opportunity to.

DC Scores — Giving kids the confidence and skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life

DC Scores — Giving kids the confidence and skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life
There’s one thing all FC Bayern players have learned from experience: sports have the power to transform the lives of young people. The DC Scores program envisions a future where every child experiences the joys of childhood: sports, arts, service, and being part of a team. DC Scores has built a team of poet-athletes that play soccer year-round, write and perform original poetry, and design and execute service projects. A poet-athlete is someone who strives to be physically healthy, emotionally strong, and who has the skills and the responsibility to speak up and act out against injustice. The program supports and celebrates its children and their accomplishments on and off the playing field. Regardless of family income or circumstances, every child should be allowed to experience progress in life. This progress can manifest in many ways and doesn’t always lead to a celebrity soccer career. But it always means being allowed to live a full life —on or off the pitch. The FC Bayern stars kept things on the pitch when they met some of the DC Scores kids for a quick friendly at Audi Field.
