We live responsibility

We’re aware of our responsibility for our company – and for wider society. Because ‘Vorsprung’ is only possible if everyone benefits from it. By taking action to protect the climate and supporting research, art and culture, we contribute to society and empower others to live their Progress.

For me, progress means using sustainability as an opportunity for future-proof mobility. Looking for the most intelligent solution instead of just the quickest. Tackling a job together to achieve effective results for people and the environment – in the automobile, in the company and throughout the supply chain.

Our objective must be to understand sustainability as an opportunity for sustainable mobility. For me, progress is when we focus not just on the product dimension, but also think more deeply about sustainability – along the entire supply chain. Based on this principle, a positive sustainability rating has become a binding criterion for awarding contracts, for our supplier companies, for example.

In everything we do, we act responsibly, stand by our word, admit when things haven’t worked out successfully and say how we want to do it better in the future. This requires teamwork and the willingness to engage in sparring again and again. To not let up until we have achieved a good result for people and the environment.

If we really want this and handle it the right way, then sustainable mobility can be part of the solution. That would be true progress.

At Audi, we are passionate about our work and we live responsibility and respect in our collaboration. I am convinced that by moving forward with courage, trying out new ideas and continuing to evolve, we can make progress possible.

Responsibility doesn’t end with a flawless product. Each of us bears responsibility. For me, this explicitly means being responsible for my employees. This is not just about performance in daily tasks, but is quite fundamentally about substantive and personal development.

This includes treating each other with respect and an error culture that rewards courage and tolerates setbacks. You have to be able to try things out. And do it without worrying that it could go wrong. Because without this courage, advancement is hardly possible.

This attitude is so important to me because I have been with Audi in various positions since 2005. I started with an apprenticeship as an office communications assistant, then worked in various different areas and short-term international assignments, accompanied various model ramp-ups and took a leadership position three years ago. Not an easy task at 29 years old, because I was surrounded here by many old veterans. But progress means openness. I sensed this openness in this difficult situation. I was given the chance to prove myself and had the team behind me within three months.

This experience helps a lot in my daily contact with my group heads, process optimizers and those in ramp-up support. You never know what’s going to happen the next day, the next hour. In assembly, the key issues are quality and quantity. If something doesn’t fit 100 percent, you have to be able to rely on each other.

Progress for all

Progress only works if we all benefit from it. Audi follows globally established principles to fulfil its corporate social responsibility. This includes both the funding and development of innovative, environmentally friendly technologies and support for education, culture and health.
