Along fascinating roads, over imposing bridges, and through impressive tunnels in Scandinavia – a tour of more than 1,000 kilometers with the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance*.

Copenhagen is a charming city. It celebrates beautiful design and features cutting-edge architecture, all while prioritizing sustainability – the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance* feels right at home here. But we didn’t come to stay. Accompanied by a small group of journalists we’re setting off – and in every sense, we’re all charged up! Our route will take us from Copenhagen in Denmark to Bergen in Norway, more than 1,000 kilometers away. We’re excited to see spectacular scenery on our journey, and we’re buzzing with anticipation about what the most aerodynamic Audi will have in store for us along the way. Its drag coefficient of 0.21* has set a new record for the brand.

In our first stage, we travel from Copenhagen almost silently eastwards over the world’s longest cable-stayed bridge and through the almost four-kilometer-long Drogden Tunnel. Along with the island of Peberholm, they make up the Öresund link. This remarkable combination of bridge, island, and tunnel gives us a preview of what awaits us over the next two days.

“Farvel” – “goodbye” – to Denmark and “Hej,” Sweden. Heading north, we pass through Helsingborg, Halmstad, and Gothenburg, covering roughly 470 kilometers before the A6 Sportback e-tron performance* suggests its first charging stop. The sophisticated charging plan proposes the ideal and shortest charging stop on the route near Strömstad. A fast-charging station with 350 kW charging power feeds 27 kWh into the battery in a mere seven minutes*. We haven’t even finished our coffee yet, but the charge is already sufficient for our next destination: Oslo, 140 kilometers away. We enjoy the spring weather for a few more minutes and then set off once again.

After covering a good 500 kilometers, the group’s conversation shifts to more specific aspects of the journey. There’s a clear consensus, and one participant from France sums it up: “The A6 Sportback e-tron performance* is a real cruiser. The adaptive air suspension makes for an exceptionally comfortable ride, and the acoustic glazing* keeps noise where it belongs – outside. That’s a double thumbs-up from me.”

Right, we’re not here for any undesirable noise, which is why the Bang and Olufsen sound system with headrest speakers* is pumping out one ABBA hit after another, imported straight from Sweden. A short while later, a German passenger enjoys some entertainment on YouTube with the 10.9-inch passenger display*. Not to worry about the driver – visual entertainment is not a distraction, because thanks to Active Privacy Mode, the display cannot be seen from the driver’s seat while the car is in motion.

Relaxed road trip with the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance*: destination Oslo

It takes us around seven hours to cover the more than 600 kilometers from Copenhagen to Oslo – and we’ve arrived. Our night’s accommodation in the Norwegian capital is a hotel on its most famous mountain, the Holmenkollen. Right nearby we find the oldest ski jumping facility in the world. Athletes have been soaring into the skies here since 1892. Our interest is piqued – we want to know more about the history of this time-honored facility and about Oslo, so we ask ChatGPT*, which is integrated into the self-learning voice assistant called Audi assistant*.

Road trip finale: Bergen is waiting

Day two dawns, and we are full of excitement for the stage ahead. As we travel from Oslo to Bergen, the highway gives way to country roads. The navigation system calculates around four hours to our next waypoint. The country roads allow the A6 Sportback e-tron performance* to really show off its dynamic handling and stability thanks to its rear-wheel drive. “The low center of gravity is just awesome,” says one participant. The A6 Sportback e-tron performance* navigates Norway’s beautiful, winding roads with precision due to the front axle developed specifically for the platform plus refined axle kinematics. With its wide spread, the air suspension is in its element with the drive select mode set to “Dynamic” and impresses with its sporty handling.

The winding drive reaps rewards: just two and a half hours west of Oslo, we arrive at Hardangervidda, Europe’s largest mountain plateau. Equally awe-inspiring are the Vøringsfossen – arguably Norway’s most famous waterfall – and the majestic Eidfjord. Simply spectacular!

The Hardanger Bridge measures 1,380 metres, and the A6 Sportback e-tron performance crosses it in no time at all and completely emission-free.

Out in the countryside, away from the big cities, one might expect to worry about range – but in Norway, that is simply not the case. Whereas 15 years ago Norwegians almost exclusively drove combustion-engine cars, today the proportion of fully electric vehicles is almost 92 percent. Another five percent are hybrids and plug-in hybrids. Gasoline and diesel cars have all but vanished from the registration stats. The charging infrastructure is just as impressive; Norway has steadily expanded it over the past several years.

At kilometer 855 of our trip, we stop, quickly recharge the high-voltage battery, and set off on our last leg – to Bergen. The 202-meter-high and 1,380-meter-long Hardanger Bridge and the more than 7,700-meter-long Vallavik Tunnel are nothing short of breathtaking. The lighting innovations of the A6 Sportback e-tron performance* really come into their own while cruising through this tunnel: the second-generation digital OLED rear lights*, active digital light signature*, user-configurable light signatures*, and communication light*. “The lights’ precision and their dynamic character is simply impressive,” enthuses one participant and then adds: “The A6 Sportback e-tron’s* lighting technology not only shapes the image of Audi on the road, but likely also makes a significant contribution to greater road safety.”

It is early evening, and the next town sign reads “Oslo” in large letters. We’ve covered over 1,000 kilometers, and the instrument cluster shows just a few more to reach our destination in the city center. Traffic is getting noticeably heavier, which is when the A6 Sportback e-tron performance’s* assistance systems come into play. Adaptive cruise assist*,* helps when accelerating, braking, and maintaining speed and the set distance to the car in front as well as with lane guidance. Surrounded by mountains and fjords, the question remains: which is more beautiful – the car or the city? Both are elegant, dynamic, and progressive, but only the A6 Sportback e-tron performance* is beauty in motion. After such an impressive journey, everyone will probably answer this question in their own way. Now it’s time to head back – going with the flow, in every sense.
