Audi is making its electric bestseller, the Q4 e-tron, more versatile than ever with a range of new features. Inside, the refreshed model impresses with a reimagined digital stage, intuitive controls, and an abundance of space. Outside, the electric crossover now boasts a sharper design and new lighting features. Increased range, greater charging capacity, and more intuitive operation make the car more convenient for everyday use. Moreover, the Q4 e-tron can power electrical devices or serve as an energy storage solution for the home – an Audi first.

Electric mobility comes to the fore where the everyday meets long distances. On a trip from central Munich to the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, the Audi Q4e-tron demonstrates on how many levels a modern electric SUV fulfills these requirements — inside and outside city limits as well as on twisty roads all the way to the Tegernsee lake and back.
An early morning in downtown Munich: around 5 a.m., long before the morning rush begins, the Audi Q4 e-tron is ready for a trip into the scenic foothills of the Bavarian Alps. Herman Verbeek, product specialist at Audi and his team set off in the heart of Bavaria’s capital, between Marienplatz and Frauenkirche. Their luggage and equipment are quickly stowed away in the SUV’s capacious trunk. One quick glance at the navigation display and the journey begins: “Hey Audi, take us to Tegernsee.” The Audi Assistant responds instantly and starts the navigation. Faulty car windows often go in the recycling bin when the cracked part cannot be fixed. A closed material circuit does not yet exist for damaged car glass. This is where Audi and its partner companies Reiling Glas Recycling, Saint-Gobain Glass, and Saint-Gobain Sekurit are now doing pioneering work as part of a joint pilot project. The partner companies want to turn the damaged auto glass into recyclable material for model production and have drawn up a multi-stage process for that purpose: using an innovative recycling process, the car windows are first broken into small pieces. Then all the non-glass impurities like glue residue are eliminated. The resulting glass granulate is melted down and turned into new plate glass. That plate glass is then turned into a new car window. If this pilot is successful, the windows that are produced this way will be used in models in the Audi Q4 e-tron series in the future.

Striking lines, smooth surfaces, and eye-catching quattro blisters – with its Q4 e-tron, Audi is taking the next step in the evolution of its electric models’ design language. The compact SUV brings the lines that the Audi Q4 concept demo car introduced at the beginning of 2019 to a production model. This is the responsibility of Audi’s toolmaking team, which translates the designers’ ideas into production and their emotionality into sheet metal with the utmost precision. Precision down to a thousandth of a millimeter when designing and building the tools, in fact – which is why toolmaking plays such a crucial role in Audi’s high standards of quality.

With the Audi Q4e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron, the brand with the four Rings presents its first purely electric cars in the compact segment. Under the expressively designed body, both SUVs offer a large interior, a high level of everyday usability, and a strong charging and driving performance.
