Why an Audi internship is the perfect start to your career
"What fascinated me most was seeing how an initial idea gradually turns into a digital experience that our customers later use in their car.”
Jiang Hongrui, Intern – Display Design, UX/UI
During my internship at Audi, I gained valuable insights into real-world concept development processes and contributed to projects from initial research and early concept ideation through to prototypes and presentations. What I find particularly exciting is the intersection of user needs, technical requirements, and Audi’s brand identity in the development of UX and HMI concepts.
From day one, I felt fully integrated into the team. I was able to work independently while always having the support and guidance I needed.
The internship has been especially valuable for my professional development, as it has allowed me to gain hands-on experience in the automotive industry and deepen my understanding of how design decisions are made within a complex organizational environment.
It showed me how exciting it is to create user-centered solutions and further strengthened my passion for UX and HMI design.
“What fascinated me most was seeing how digital technologies are applied directly in production.”
Nam Pham, Intern – Delivery Planning, Production Ingolstadt
As a computer science student, I’m especially passionate about the digitalization of production. My personal highlight was the AFIF project, which focused on autonomous driving within the factory environment. It was impressive to see how IT infrastructure, connectivity, and production work together to enable innovative applications directly on the factory floor.
During my internship, I contributed to real-world projects and aligned technical requirements with the responsible teams. The insights I gained into manufacturing processes, combined with the connection between technology and project work, were particularly valuable to me.
From day one, I was actively involved in projects, given responsibility, and encouraged to contribute my own ideas. The internship showed me how diverse and multifaceted digitalization in production can be. What stood out most was the cross-functional collaboration, which demonstrated the importance of open communication and diverse perspectives in successfully implementing innovative solutions.
“Working on innovative lighting technologies showed me how exciting it is to play an active role in shaping the future of mobility.”
Carina Huber, Intern – Lighting Function Predevelopment
During my internship in Lighting Function Predevelopment, I gained valuable insights into innovative technologies. One of the highlights was a nighttime test drive, where new lighting functions were evaluated directly in the car. Being able not only to observe these developments, but also to actively contribute to them, was especially rewarding for me.
The open collaboration, close mentorship, and regular exchange with colleagues and fellow students helped me quickly feel at home at Audi.
What I particularly appreciate is the strong sense of community among interns and the opportunity to gain insights into a wide range of areas. I was especially impressed by the tours of the wind tunnel, the production facilities, and the Audi Museum „museum mobile“, which gave me a deeper understanding of the company.
