S-Rating: Sustainability Rating for Audi Partners

Welcome to the page providing an overview of the S-Rating or Sustainability Rating. This is where you can find all the information you need about the S-Rating to help you through the award process. The individual steps in the S-Rating process are explained to you clearly and in detail here.

Audi takes defined requirements into account throughout its production process, including requirements relating to human rights, working conditions, occupational health and safety, business ethics, environmental aspects and supply chain management. To assess compliance with these requirements, partner companies undergo the S-Rating at the start of the business relationship, with the assessment based on the so-called self-assessment questionnaire and, where applicable, additional audits.

A positive S-Rating is generally a key prerequisite for establishing or continuing a business relationship, subject to the applicable Group internal requirements and processes. As a globally active company, Audi aims to integrate various sustainability aspects into its manufacturing processes. Fair working conditions and responsible business conduct are key elements of the company’s principles.

By participating in the S-Rating, you help Audi demonstrate compliance with the Code of Conduct for Business Partners.

What is the S-Rating?

The main points at a glance:

Audi uses the S-Rating to check your compliance with the Code of Conduct for Business Partners. A positive S-Rating is generally a key prerequisite for establishing or continuing a business relationship, subject to the applicable Group internal requirements and processes. The basis for issuing the S-Rating is provided by the self-assessment questionnaire, or SAQ. The assessment is based on your answers. In some cases, an on-site audit may be necessary as well.

Your result in the S-Rating determines whether you are eligible to be awarded contracts in the future as a business partner. “S-Rating” stands for “Sustainability-Rating”, i.e. the assessment of business partners from sustainability aspects. As part of the S-Rating, business partners are asked to provide information on topics including environmental management, working conditions and compliance structures, among others.

The S-Rating is generally mandatory for all relevant companies wishing to enter into a business relationship with Audi and is applied consistently across the Volkswagen Group. Participation in the S-Rating is mandatory for companies with more than 10 employees at the respective site. Microenterprises with fewer than 10 employees can arrange to be exempted from the S-Rating requirement.
