Audi has begun production of the A2 e-tron in Ingolstadt. The first units of the new electric model rolled off the assembly line in the presence of Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder. With production of the A2 e-tron, Audi is demonstrating how the company is becoming more efficient itself: development time has been shortened by 21 months, the range of variants and complexity have been significantly reduced, and the degree of automation has been increased. Existing equipment and production facilities continue to be used.
Ingolstadt, September 2, 2026 – The Volkswagen Group and AUDI AG are filling two key Board of Management positions: Martin Sander, currently Member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing and After Sales at the Volkswagen brand, is returning to Audi and will take over the Board of Management responsibility for Sales and Marketing effective October 1, 2026. Marco Schubert will become a member of the Extended Executive Committee of the Volkswagen Group for the North American region. In this new function, he will assume responsibility for the overall management of the North America region and report directly to Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen Group.

The A2 e-tron is the most efficient Audi of all time. According to WLTP measurements, the preliminary energy consumption of the upcoming compact electric model in the 140-kW power level with the optional efficiency package amounts to 12.8 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers. This is made possible by advanced drive technology, sophisticated aerodynamics, and a battery optimized for everyday use.
The Audi Group held steady in a challenging market environment during the first half of 2026. Geopolitical uncertainties, US tariffs, and intense competition, particularly in China, influenced the Group’s business performance. At the same time, Audi is proceeding with the renewal of its product portfolio. The company will unveil its new portfolio flagship — the Audi Q9 — at the end of July, elevating its position in the premium segment. In the fall, the fully electric Audi A2 e-tron will expand the lineup in the entry-level electric segment.
